Sydney's son, Nicholas, is with a group of educators in a small village in the Appalachian Hills fighting illiteracy when they all get taken for ransom by a small but dangerous local paramilitary group led by a man named Eldridge Hailey. Jarod becomes an ATF agent and joins a lieutenant named Jenkins and his rescue team to help Nicholas. Meanwhile, Sydney travels there as well to help but it turns out that the Centre got there first.
