Welcome back to #TheSimonettaLeinShow. Today's episode is especially exciting as I debut our newest #StarSpotlight segment, dedicated to uplifting rising entrepreneurs and artists who are making waves. I'm thrilled to welcome Star2, an Asian American singer, songwriter, and rapper from San Diego. Influenced by Justin Bieber, Tyga, and Bruno Mars, Star2 creates music rooted in heartache, love, resilience, and survival-from being born in a Thai refugee camp to growing up on the rough inner-city streets of America. Without either parent, Star2 came to the United States at just six years old with his grandmother and her four children. His grandmother woke up every morning at 4:00 a.m. to pick mushrooms, working tirelessly to support her family and repay their airfare from the refugee camp. That strength, sacrifice, and perseverance continue to fuel Star2's music and dreams today. Star2 joined me to share his incredible journey, how his life experiences have shaped his sound, and how he plans to honor his family's legacy through his art. Fun Facts: Star2 and I both share a mother who doesn't always give our English enough credit. He wore a traditional Ka-ren shirt during our interview.
