Mandoni, the leader of the slaves, wants to flee. His son Arinsal suggests fleeing to the mountains, while the members of the Roman family are asleep. Pompeu has located Caesar's former mistress in Lydia's brothel and tries to get her out of the dirt and madness to cure the emperor's spirits. The woman's sudden entry into the house triggers Claudia's jealousy.
