The Time She Came to New YorkSarah Reeves arrives in New York City from San Francisco to find her biological father and promptly encounters one mishap after another, starting with losing her luggage at the airport. She arrives at the apartment building that had been her birthmother's home; moves into it with Romy Sullivan, a struggling, near-starving actress determined to make it big; and deals with the cynical building superintendent, Cecilia Wiznarski. She also meets musician and CD shop employee John Maguire and his waitress friend/roommate Jocelyn "Joss" House, who works at the seedy nightclub down the street, as well as Romy's neighbor J.B., who lives across the street. But she turns the job down, because she doesn't want anything handed to her as she had back in San Francisco. Sarah reacts by deciding to do "something outrageous" with her now free-spirited life which leads her to drink, party, get a tattoo, and consider spending the night with Spencer. Romy also becomes concerned about J.B., who becomes acquainted with a few too many girls who show up. The Time the Millennium ApproachedWhen Sarah is kicked out of her apartment by Romy, Archer offers her his place for the New Year's Eve. and Sarah finds out about Joss and Maguire's ""arrangement"". Meanwhile, Andy Beam, the smitten orthodontist Cecilia met at Sarah and Romy's party months earlier, hires her as his new receptionist where she's liked by him but not his patients. When Leya leaves town for a photo shoot, Sarah attempts to fix up the continuing feud between Leya and Spencer by sending him e-mail messages, which soon lands Sarah in a bind: she must keep up the charade of playing Leya over the Internet for clueless Spencer. Meanwhile, Romy is taking acting classes to expand her acting talents when former best friend Molly, a talkative and noisy young woman, arrives in town for a visit. J.B. seeks to expand his DJ business by playing at more gigs which lands him and Maguire in a bind when they must play at two engagements on the same night, one of them being an important dinner engagement for Sophie's business clients. - The Time Everything ChangedE12
The Time Everything ChangedRomy's friend, Molly, ingratiates herself more and more into Romy's life, seemingly stealing her friends and honing in on her acting class. Romy has had just about enough, but Sarah and Maguire find themselves becoming better and better friends with her. Then, the unimaginable happens - Molly is murdered during a mugging and Sarah, Romy and Maguire are overwhelmed with grief and guilt. Maguire feels that the hospital was negligent; Sarah is panicked about her own safety in the city; and, Romy is so emotionally shattered that she packs up her belongings and moves back home.
