The Hallig's are a chain of barrier islands that project the north coast of Germany from flooding. The tiny little Lüttmoorsiel-Nordstrandischmoor island railway was built to ferry supplies for the maintenance of the islands. Today it is also used by residents of the islands who build their own little trolleys to travel to the mainland.
