Ivanych and Sashok pick up a young soldier in the forest who has fled his unit to escape brutal hazing. To protect him, the partners disguise him in mechanic's overalls and put him behind the wheel to slip past military police checkpoints. Along the way, they encounter a victim who warns them that two escaped convicts are on the loose and disguised as law enforcement. The truck is eventually flagged down at a fake checkpoint by the fugitives. A violent struggle ensues, during which the young soldier is shot while helping the truckers overpower the criminals. After handing the bandits over to the real authorities, the partners rush the private to a hospital for life-saving surgery. Touched by the soldier's bravery, his commanding officer visits him and promises to address the hazing issues in the unit rather than punishing him for going AWOL.
