Farlig förbindelse

S5 • E11    Mar 29, 2022
The war in Ukraine has put Germany's tricky relationship with Russia in lightning lighting. The relationship between the two countries that arose from the ruins after the fall of the wall was intended to be based on trade, stability and friendship. But it has not been smooth. While Germany's future has been decided in free elections, Russia has been increasingly controlled by a single man. A man who controls the gas that Germany is so dependent on. What role does Germany play for the financing of the Russian war apparatus? And what does Germany's bloody 20th century history mean today? Participants include Melinda Crane, a political commentator on the German TV channel Deutsche Welle and Christoph Heusgen, who for 12 years was Angela Merkel's foreign political adviser. Guests in the studio are Aryo Makko, professor of history, Therese Larsson Hultin, foreign analyst for Svenska Dagbladet who also reported from Germany for several years, and Rolf Fredriksson, former European correspondent and foreign reporter at SVT.
