S1 • E11 May 12, 2014 25mThe portrait of the poet Antero de Quental painted by Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro seems to predict Antero’s suicide which would take place two years later. Columbano never painted what he saw but what he felt and that’s why it’s said that he captured the soul of those he portrayed and the spirit of the times that were being lived. A great Portuguese painter who deserves universal recognition.
