The Great Depression was far more depressing than it was “great,” and like any national crisis worth its salt, it took its toll on everyone’s sexual relationships. Millions were suffering under catastrophic economic conditions, so dating wasn’t really on anyone’s mind. In fact, as a result of all the turmoil and strife, sexual attitudes of the era changed dramatically in some surprising ways, and not always for the better.
