Situated in the pristine Luangwa Valley is the luxury Mfuwe Lodge. Unbeknown to its builders, the lodge was built on the resident Elephant herds feeding route- but to the surprise of the lodge the elephants of the area had no intention of changing their path. Each year when the Mango trees in the lodge courtyard begin to ripen the entire herd makes its way through the reception area to gorge themselves on the fruits. Guests and staff keep a safe distance from their large guests- and watch in awe as the elephant family romps around the lodge grounds. Nowhere else on earth can one get such an unusual vantage point of these colossal beasts.
