Under High Voltage – How Secure Are Our Power Grids?

The coal phase-out by 2038 is a done deal. In future, wind turbines situated near the coast are to take over a large part of this base load. Production is one thing; transmission is another. Two main problems need to be resolved from a technical standpoint: balancing energy fluctuations on days with little wind, and building a direct current grid across Germany.
