Tom Kempeneers is found dead with an overdose of heroine, tranquilizers and booze. The crime scene is shut down, but suddenly they find Mireille, Tom's girlfriend, and Fré Debruyn, Tom's confidential counselor, there. The police determine Tom didn't kill himself. Someone else injected him with the heroine. Mireille and Fré say Tom was an addict, but he was clean now. Tom's parent differ on that matter. Erwin, his father, can't take it his son was on drugs and doesn't believe for one moment Tom was clean. Sil, his mother, always believed in her son and supported him. Erwin believes that was the whole problem in the first place. Tom didn't get along with his boss, Jos, at all. Jos accused him of stealing money from his locker. He even went to Tom's apartment and threatened him. Mireille is completely addicted to drugs and needs money all the time. Jos gives her money for favors. Tom didn't know about this. Mireille has nowhere to go and is taken in by Erwin and Sil after she says she's pregnant with Tom's child. She even has a doctor's note. When Witse finds out Mireille is not pregnant at all and that the vomit next to Tom's bed is not his, things go fast.
