Alyona Belkova has everything one can dream of: a successful career under the guidance of a loving father, the head of a large medical center Vladimir Aleksandrovich, stepmother Natalya, who became a girl who sincerely loves her "second mother", and fiance Egor is a talented surgeon. But an ordinary sanitary expedition to the Arctic, to the city of her childhood Belozersk, unexpectedly completely changes her usual way of life. Returning to St. Petersburg brings only disappointment to Alyona: she becomes a witness to the unsightly act of her father, relations with her fiancé deteriorate, work no longer brings joy. The girl is increasingly drawn to the Arctic. And, leaving everything, she goes back to Belozersk to work as a simple doctor in a modest regional hospital.
