Facing Up to LifeFeeling stressed out Carol and Sandra are prescribed tranquillizers by the doctor. Then Carol's father returns from London, to where he ran off five years earlier with a younger bus conductress. Carol and Sandra manage to get Carol's parents reconciled - after a fashion - and feel a sense of accomplishment and calm, so they throw away the tranquillizers. Then they hear that Carol's 16 year old sister Barbara has run off to London with her boyfriend and reach for the pills. - The MaypoleE2
The MaypoleCarol volunteers to go London to check that Barbara is all right and Sandra and Paul take her in his car - which breaks down so they have to hitch-hike. They acquire a goat as a result of vegetarian Sandra arguing with a lorry driver carrying livestock but unfortunately Carol leaves her rucksack containing all their money along with Barbara's address on the lorry so they hitch back to Liverpool, discovering that Barbara has got back ahead of them. However Mr Boswell decides to leave home and heads for Scotland. - HoneyE3
HoneyHaving seen Paul with another woman, Sandra believes that she is too sweet and compliant and vows to be hard and ruthless, giving up vegetarianism and rowing with her mother. This leads to a falling out with Carol so Sandra feels that the only way to win Paul back is to be passionate and seductive though this scares him off. The Never-Ending EndWhilst Carol writes a love letter to her new beau her grandpa rings to say the family wants him to die and then he disappears. Feeling guilty for not listening to him Carol joins the rest of the family at the police station - where they all argue - before grandpa returns with a lady friend in tow. - Badgers and OttersE5
Badgers and OttersThe Boswells are in uproar when they learn that their street is to be pulled down for redevelopment and Sandra and Carol begin a protest campaign. Along with Mrs Hutchinson and Carol's family they confront the local councillor - and somehow talk him into submission.
