In the first programme Norfolk Broads river inspectors face the prospect of around 40,000 visitors during the August Bank Holiday. Part and parcel of this invasion is an endless stream of complaints against tourists who are often unfamiliar with the byelaws that operate on the water.

    Special InvestigationsTim Coglan, a trading standards officer in Preston, Lancashire is out to crack a counterfeit clothing gang that have taken over his area. He is head of the Special Investigation Squad, he relishes the dawn raids and stings. In contrast, colleague Philip Walley prefers to keep an eye on weights and measures battling to ensure prices are clearly displayed and weights properly labelled.

    Royal ParksThe series follows the Royal Parks Constabulary, keeping the peace in London's four royal parks and the roads leading to Buckingham Palace. At night PC Brian Mitchell and WPC Kim Anderson patrol by van to deter those seeking a different sort of peace. They also find an old regular, missing from his hostel for three days. Inspector Jeff Short coordinates Speakers' Corner and the police are out in full force as gay rights activists are planning to come face to face with Muslim rally-goers.

    Strictly KosherA look at the work of the shomers, the kosher inspectors led by Rabbi Jeremy Conway and employed by the Beth Din (Jewish courts of law) to oversee the laws of Kashrut, given by God via Moses to the Jewish people more than 3,500 years ago. Their work takes them to bar mitzvahs, Jewish weddings and non-kosher kitchens.

    Parking PatrolThe fifth programme in the present series looks at traffic wardens in Manchester, where security is tight following the 1996 IRA bomb. It features the city's longest-serving warden, David Raglan, who even took a pay cut to remain in his job, Karen Carr, one of nineteen wardens patrolling Manchester Airport, and former Army sergeant John Anderson, who is involved in traffic organisation for a two-day visit by the Queen.
  • Dumpers

    DumpersThe last programme in the present series follows an all-female, graduate team of environmental health officers in Birmingham. The 'Sparkies' (dubbed because they work Sparkbrook and are bright sparks) attend some 30 calls each day. They rummage through maggot-ridden bin bags dumped in a car park, carry out detective work on leaking drains, attempt to stop a barking dog, and worst of all, inspect an abandoned council flat in a filthy and verminous condition.
